Pre Training Review

To ensure applicants are placed in a suitable course with an appropriate training and assessment strategy, we review applicants existing knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.  You will be asked to complete this Pre Training Review form during the enrolment process by providing details of your existing knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications that are relevant to the course being applied for. Melbourne Training Academy will then review this information and respond to you with the outcome of the review.

Clients are advised to read the Client Information Handbook in full prior to completing this form. Clients are encouraged to contact the institute if they require clarification of any terminology or information in this document or to discuss their learning needs.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

The responses you provide will also be used to assess whether you have the required Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills required to undertake this course. Ensure you read each question carefully, consider how to appropriately respond and provide a response to each question.

3.   The training and assessment strategy for this course includes:

Course duration:                  20 hours of learning and assessment activities.  

Number of subjects:             The course includes one unit of competency 

Delivery modes:                   Independent study: Read learner guide, references resources and complete tasks in own time.  The following techniques are employed during face to face training: Power Point presentations, trainer demonstrations, individual tasks, role plays, practical demonstrations and group work. The context of the simulated environments will be incorporated into delivery and assessment methodologies and client’s complete tasks to appropriate industry standards.

Assessment methods:          Theory questions and practical demonstration of knowledge and skills when providing first aid. Role play and simulated environments are used by re-creating emergency and non-emergency situations/ conditions, and using first aid equipment, technology, materials, legislation, quality standards and appropriate responses to emergency situations that match those currently recommended and used in industry.

Course demands:                     Total approximate course duration = 12 hours independent study and assessment to be completed by student in their own time. 8 hours face to face training and assessment. Total hours = 20 hours. Hours are approximate as learners take differing amounts of time on pre- course reading. 

The course duration can be adjusted to address individual client’s requirements.
